2nd International Conference on Tropical Sciences

Ms. Selena Song Kian Yii and Mr. Clarence Lau Yii Fang were granted the golden opportunity to present their recent publications at the 2nd International Conference on Tropical Sciences.

Selena shared insights from her work, titled “Bilevel Optimization for Capacity Contingency Debottlenecking Considering Trade-Offs within the Waste Oil Supply Chain”, which delves into the complexities of optimising waste oil recycling supply chains. Her research emphasises economic and environmental considerations while considering resiliency in the face of major disruptions. The study aims to improve the resiliency and economic viability of waste oil recycling while considering crucial decision-making trade-offs.

Meanwhile, Clarence presented his publication, titled “Planning and Optimisation of Renewable Energy Systems for Decarbonising Operations of Oil Refineries”. His work explores cost-effective strategies for integrating renewable energy systems into oil refinery operations. His research underscores efforts to reduce carbon emissions and promote clean energy transition within the oil and gas industry.

Together, the duo highlighted key aspects of their publications, emphasising the importance of fostering circular economy and supporting energy transition in tropical regions. Their presentations reflect their dedication in fostering sustainable practices in waste management and energy systems.
